Hut Creek

This trip passes through State Forest and National Park then onto private property, as usual, through a locked gate. The road follows the very tops of the ranges with scenic views on both sides of the track.

There are many steep hills climbs and descents until we reach the outstation  hut, used by the property owners when they are mustering cattle.   A little further on we find our campsite on the banks of Hut Creek.  This spot can only accommodate approximately 6 to 8 sites, but is quite pleasant with a clear unspoilt mountain stream with many fish to be caught.

After setting up camp, the trip leader will take you on a drive further into this mountainous area.  Some really magnificent country with another good fishing hole.  This road can be a little difficult at times as it climbs over loose, shale inclines on the ridges, with many tight corners.

The drive home is equally challenging, as the hills don’t get any easier on the way out, but this is a good trip with plenty of experience to be gained in learning to drive your vehicle on hills and over rough terrain.   The views from the tops of these high ridges are worth the trip.
