Sporting Wheelies - August 2008
Every year the Club plays host to clients from the Sporting Wheelies and the Endeavour group and each year the total numbers seems to grow. The word certainly got around that the day is a most enjoyable one for all concerned and this year was no exception.
We had 65 people including children at the Campground on Sunday - some camped over the previous evening - for the Sporting Wheelies event. Most successful ever - 32 Wheelies and carers in total had a ball. Kel, Steve Johnson and Staggie, with the committee ladies, organised 4 groups of 4 cars to transport everybody around the rear tracks - 16 cars on the track at the same time went without a hitch. What a wonderful job these blokes did in arranging this particular part of the day’s activities and in fact the new committee appears keen as mustard. Great stuff.
As has become the tradition the Wheelies cooked us a BBQ lunch to finish off the day. Excellent. Peter Sumpter - from the Wheelies - catered very accurately for lunch as always. Everybody appears to be appreciating the facility more and more whilst we still have access to it.
One interesting point as the event clocks up a number of years is the wonderful rapport that is developing between the various clients and our own club members so much so that invariably now we find that particular clients seek out their own familiar club members to transport them around the tracks. How wonderful it is to see their faces and expressions of appreciation. The day is indeed a most rewarding on. In fact we heard suggestions on the day – “Can we have it twice a year”.
Congratulations to all concerned.

Dear Members,
I would like to express the gratitude I have for the amount of support the club received on the weekend of the Sporting Wheelies (17th August 2008). We had an outstanding turn out on Sunday which made for an enjoyable, special day for all concerned.
It is events like this that make us proud members of a community focused club. We look forward to many more events and occasions like this.
Again a big thank you. See you all “on the tracks”.
Kind regards,
